The adidas KOTR 2013 happening this July 7, will introduce a new twist in adidas’ mission to promote fitness, teamwork, and school pride. On top of its annual running event, the KOTR (King of the Road), the introduction of the School Championship seeks to empower students from all campuses.
All In for the adidas KOTR 2013
The King of the Road is adidas’ annual road race, with a unique competitive distance of 16.8km. While a 10k distance is available, it’s the 16.8km Closed Category that excites the Philippine running community; the winners, top male and top female, in this distance will be crowned the adidas King and Queen of the Road, respectively, and will represent the country in the adidas KOTR 2013 Southeast Asia Championship. The championship will be held in Malaysia.
Pushing for School Pride
“adidas has always been an advocate of health and wellness through sports. The adidas KOTR 2013 is a testament to that fact.”
- Jason Gervasio, Brand Communications and Sports Marketing Manager of adidas Philippines
The new School Championship category primarily focuses on promoting both teamwork and school pride. KOTR’s 10k will be split to the 10k Relay between two students, a male and a female, to run 5k each. Winners don’t just get personal glory – their school wins a prize too!

On July 7, Bonifacio Global City (this hallowed running center of Manila) will play host to the adidas King of the Road 2013 and a show of school pride and -spirit. The 16.8k Open Category will see both Filipino and international runners race to the finish, while the all-Filipino Closed Category will judge who deserves to represent the Philippines in Malaysia.
